The opening of a new Orthopaedic centre for Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust provides a state-of-the-art ‘barn style’ operating theatre and two surgical wards, each with three four-bed bays ad 16 single bed rooms.
The project concept demonstrated substantial savings in programme time at design stage with reduced fees by adopting a Repeatable Room principle using Standardised Components. Additional project installation savings were also achieved by adopting a factory pre-fabricated fully integrated bedhead services trunking system incorporating integrated room and reading (task) lighting, thus limiting the ceiling interface with additional luminaires.
Under the Procure Framework Cableflow bedhead services trunking systems were selected to add value and product performance benefits to this project. A NHS Procure21+ Case Study has been produced so that other schemes may benefit from identifying these principles.
