With more than 1,000 clinical spaces already equipped with Cableflow product across the clinical footprint of University College London Hospital at the top of Tottenham Court Road, Cableflow products have once more been selected for this ground breaking new Cancer Treatment facility.
Located in the heart of Central London, the new eleven storey building will be home to one of only two NHS proton beam therapy (PBT) centres in the UK.
PBT is an advanced form of radiotherapy used for the treatment of complex and hard-to-treat cancers in children and adults. Currently, patients have to travel abroad for PBT, but from 2020 patients will benefit from local access to this advanced treatment at UCLH, with potentially better outcomes and a lower risk of longer term side effects.
In the floors above the PBT centre UCLH are developing Europe’s largest blood disorder treatment centre and a short stay surgical service. A further two floors housing a private patients Cancer Care facility will also use Cableflow products, bringing our total bed count on this project alone to more than 250 clinical spaces.
An array of Cableflow products are to be deployed including Medicol, SOLO and MSU, all of which will incorporate low level waste gases extract capability. Supplied to site as a complete turnkey package, factory assembled incorporating pre-wired mains power services and pre-gassed medical gas outlets will demonstrate accelerated project completion capability.
The UCLH service will be delivered from the Trust’s campus in the heart of the capital where it enjoys a close collaboration with UCL on groundbreaking research projects.
The facility is being constructed by French contractor Bouygues (UK) and will open its doors to the first patients in 2020.
