Work is nearing completion on a new £49m emergency department and assessment centre at Wexham Park Hospital in Slough, Berkshire.
The project will create one of the best and most innovative units of its kind in the NHS. Emergency patients suffering from the most chronic illness and injury will be treated in individual rooms with additional wards above the ED for testing and treating patients who arrive via the emergency department (ED).
It represents the biggest single investment at the Slough hospital since it was built more than half a century ago.
Having the wards located in the same building as the ED will benefit patients and increase efficiency. The selection of Cableflow product from across our bedhead containment portfolio links the ED clinical areas with in-patient accommodation across more than 200 clinical bed locations, offering the delivery of clinical consistency.
An array of Cableflow products were selected by the Trust, integra with integrated room and patient lighting, along with Medicol vertical containment for specific clinical areas, chosen against strict specification compliance criteria using HTM as the benchmark across the industry. The Cableflow integrated lighting solution provides the clinical areas with greater wall space for mounting other vital medical electrical equipment in the ED whilst collaborating with the impact of the external façade design providing natural daylight into each clinical space which could not be achieved with stand alone over bed luminaires.
